Zahra Hashemian’s vocal training focused on techniques in opera and jazz. Teachers have included Stephanie Welge, Julie Hardy (New School), Wendy Butler, Julie Fazzone, and Olga Makarina (Met Opera). In 2007, Zahra released her first solo album. Her songs have been heard on underground radio as well as played at clubs in New York City. She worked as a freelance artist at Duotone Audio Group writing vocals and singing on the occasional commercial demo. Enjoying the collaboration process with other artists, Zahra loves stepping in and assisting with musical projects. She has recorded with theater company Desert Sin, producer Chris Young, Matt Dickey of In The Loop, Sean Hagerty, and Rob DiLido. Performance venues have included The House of Yes, Sleep No More's Manderley Bar at McKittrick Hotel, The Delancey, Galapagos Art Space, Monkey Town, Brooklyn Lyceum, Club Sol, The Salon, CBGB’s, Skybox Theater, Taj, and Cafe Wha.
